Security and privacy FAQ
This FAQ explains how ExcelAI works in Google Sheets and how the add-on handles spreadsheet access, authentication, AI requests, writeback, and user-controlled settings.
Google Sheets access
ExcelAI requires Google authorization so the add-on can show the sidebar, identify the signed-in user, read spreadsheet context requested by the user, and write approved results back to the sheet.
Data sent to AI workflows
Agents send prompts and the relevant spreadsheet context. Bulk Tools send the source values, output references, instructions, selected model, and other fields required by the chosen tool.
Writeback safety
Agent write actions require approval before they run. Bulk Tools apply skip rules to avoid overwriting existing output cells.
User control
Using a smaller selection, choosing only the source columns you need, limiting the row range, and writing results to separate output columns can reduce the amount of spreadsheet data used in a task.
